Seiko Presage Cocktail Time: Which Dial Should You Buy?

The Presage Cocktail Time is one of the few watches that looks more expensive than it is and holds up once you know what's inside. The collection takes its cue from Japanese cocktail culture, and every dial is built around a single idea: a deep sunburst finish that shifts colour as it catches the light.

We keep four dials on the bench. They share the same case and movement, so the real choice is which dial suits you. Here's how to pick.

What they all share

Every Cocktail Time we stock runs on Seiko's in-house 4R35 automatic movement, with 23 jewels, hacking seconds, hand-winding and around 41 hours of power reserve. You can watch the movement work through the exhibition caseback. The case measures 40.5mm, a dress size that sits comfortably under a cuff without looking small on a larger wrist, and each one comes on a steel bracelet.

Each watch ships as a full set, with box and papers.

The four dials

Ice Blue 'Skydiving'

This is the lightest and most distinctive of the four. In daylight it reads pale blue, and under warmer light it moves towards silver-blue. It's the one people notice first, and a good pick if you want a dress watch that doesn't feel formal.

Silver Sunburst

This is the most versatile dial. It pairs with anything from a suit to a knit, and the sunburst gives it more depth than a flat white dial. If you want one watch that goes everywhere, start here.

Blue Moon, Deep Navy (SRPB41J1)

A dark navy that turns almost electric blue in direct light. It's richer than the ice blue and less stark than the black, which is why it has been one of our most asked-about pieces.

Black Sunburst (SRPE17J1)

The most understated of the four. Indoors it reads close to plain black, and in daylight the sunburst comes through as a subtle grey sheen. It's the best choice if you want the Presage finish without drawing attention to it.

Quick guide

If you want one watch for everything, go with the Silver. If you want something that stands out, go with the Ice Blue. If you want colour without the flash, go with the Blue Moon. And if you prefer to keep it low-key, go with the Black.

About box and papers

This is the question we're asked most, so here's the full answer. Every Presage we sell comes with its original Seiko box and papers. Our stock is sourced internationally, so the warranty card is unstamped. That's normal for internationally sourced watches and has no bearing on authenticity. Read more about unstamped warranty cards.

Your cover comes from the ABA Warranty, together with your full statutory rights under UK consumer law. Every watch also goes through our 8-stage bench verification before it leaves us.

Returns

UK buyers get 30 days to return and international buyers get 14, on every watch. Read our returns policy or contact us with any questions.
